This silk scarf yellow with light yellow is made of pure silk.
The result is beautiful and wears wonderfully.
On top of that, the yarn was dyed with natural dyes and it is woven using traditional methods.
The weaver received a nice prize for her work and with your purchase you support her and the old weaving craft.
Silk from the silkworm
The silk scarf of yellow with pale yellow comes from the cocoons of silkworms.
The larvae feed and weave cocoons of sericin.
These cocoons are boiled after which the fine threads can be unwound.
With dyes from flowers and plants
The colour of this scarf is sourced using age-old techniques from raw materials that grow in nature.
Flowers, plants, seeds, bark and even earth dye our fabrics.
Often these raw materials grow near the weaver’s village and she learned from her (grand)mother how to extract the colour from them.
Before weaving, she dipped the yarn several times in this sustainable dye.
This way, the traditional craft of dyeing and weaving is preserved.
